If you are what you eat then you’ll leave The Tree feeling healthy, well nourished and energised.

We prepare all the food ourselves in our farmhouse kitchen using local produce wherever we can. And there’s plenty of it! We serve meals in our lovely dining room with its long wooden table and fantastic views out across the valley. All guests eat together which is conducive to a lovely atmosphere and no one needs to worry if they have come on their own.

Typical breakfasts during the week, for guests staying on a b and b basis include cereal, fresh fruit, yoghurts, toast, jams and free range eggs, mushrooms, beans and tomatoes. All accompanied with fresh coffee, herbal teas or good old Yorkshire Breakfast tea !

We don’t serve evening meals during the week but B&B guests often like to sample the food in our local pubs and eateries or bring their own vegetarian snacks or meals to simply warm up in our kitchen. Some enjoy to sit out in the summer months and picnic in our garden which overlooks the Rosedale valley.

On weekends our hearty home-made soups are one of our lunchtime specialities served with freshly made bread, colourful salads and a cheeseboard. And if that isn’t enough we also serve afternoon tea with scones and cake on Saturday afternoon !

Our evening meal is freshly prepared using fresh produce and many guests enjoy coming back to eat their favourite recipes again. We do have a drinks licence and you can enjoy a glass of wine chosen from our selection of delicious organic wines which are available to purchase.

Because we are a licensed premise we prefer people to buy their wine from us. On some occasions we have charged corkage at £5 a bottle for people wishing to have their own wine at the table.

All of our food is vegetarian but we’re more than happy to cater for special dietary/medical needs, food allergies or vegan diets if we know in advance so please let us know when you book. It is also helpful to know if you have an epipen or medication especially if you are visiting

us on your own.

If you feel inspired to try some of our recipes for yourself then we do have a popular little cookbook which you can buy to take a bit of the taste of The Tree away with you .

Food & Drink

Cooking is all about people. Food is maybe the only universal thing that really has the power to bring everyone together. No matter what culture, everywhere around the world, people get together to eat.
